End of the Year Update

December 1, 2017

It's been a while, so I thought I'd provide some updates on my writing and other projects going on.

Articles

I'm lucky enough to know some wonderful people in the stationery community who put up with my ramblings enough to post them to their own blogs. Below are some reviews I've written lately about recently released products and one terrific documentary:

Harry Marks on the Dime Novel Field Notes Edition - Woodclinched

Metal Shop Timber Twist Review - Pencil Revolution

Review: California Typewriter - Comfortable Shoes Studio

NaNoWriMo 2017

I attempted my first NaNoWriMo this year and it was a resounding failure. Well, some people wouldn't consider 14,000 words in a month a failure, but I sure felt like one. Why did they ever choose November for this challenge? With Thanksgiving at the end of the month and Christmas around the corner, this is the worst time of year to attempt 50,000 words in a month.

I'm hoping to try again with Camp NaNo in the summer. Hopefully, things will have calmed down a bit.

I did, however, manage to write a short story to be published in Andy Welfle's Plumbago Magazine for the next issue. I'll post a link when pre-orders are available.

COVERED

I haven't updated the COVERED calendar on the home page in months, so I'm rectifying that today. And in case you missed them, here are the most recent episodes and interviews featuring some of the greatest writers around. Please subscribe and if you have time, leave a review in iTunes. It would definitely help the show move up in the rankings and find new listeners.

S4E1 - Greer Macallister, GIRL IN DISGUISE

S4E2 - Caroline Weaver, THE PENCIL PERFECT

S4E3 - Emily Fridlund, HISTORY OF WOLVES

S4E4 - Carolyn Porter, MARCEL'S LETTERS

S4E5 - Theodora Goss, THE STRANGE CASE OF THE ALCHEMIST'S DAUGHTER

S4E5a (BONUS) - Theodora Goss, 5 Lessons Learned While Writing THE STRANGE CASE OF THE ALCHEMIST'S DAUGHTER

Miscellaneous

I'm still querying THE LIBRARY AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH and working on a sixth novel I started for NaNoWriMo. Without giving too much away, it centers on a fundamentalist cult and is told from two points of view: the cult leader's child bride and a private investigator on the outside trying to bring the whole organization down.

Thanks for reading. I'm hoping to post more here in the future. Gotta build that platform and hustle and whatnot.
